Industry News Digest
Get a daily briefing of breaking stories and industry headlines, with Salesforce account news flagged so your sales team never misses a trigger event.
The Challenge
Staying current on industry news is table stakes for marketing and sales teams, but nobody has time to read 50 articles before their morning coffee. Worse, when a key account makes headlines -- a funding round, a leadership change, a product launch -- your reps usually find out days later from LinkedIn. This prompt builds a daily briefing that connects breaking news to your actual pipeline, so the right people hear about the right stories at the right time.

Context
What to Search For
Build the briefing in three layers:
Layer 1 - Breaking stories: Use Breaking News to find rapidly developing stories in the last 24 hours. These are the headlines everyone will be talking about.
Layer 2 - Industry headlines: Use Latest Headlines with the relevant theme filter (Tech, Business, Finance, Health, etc.) to get broader coverage from the past 24 hours.
Layer 3 - Account-specific news:
Query Salesforce for active accounts or open opportunities, then search NewsCatcher for each account name using ORG_entity_name to find news about companies you're selling to or working with.
Search Strategy
- Pull Breaking News for the last 24 hours filtered to the user's industry language and region
- Pull Latest Headlines using the appropriate theme (Tech, Business, Finance, etc.) for broader coverage
- Query Salesforce for account names from active deals or key accounts
- For each Salesforce account, run a NewsCatcher Search Articles with
ORG_entity_nameandinclude_nlp_data: true - Deduplicate across all three layers (some stories will appear in both breaking and headlines)
- Prioritize: Breaking > Account-specific > General headlines
- Post the digest to Slack in a scannable format
What Counts as a Valid Result
- Breaking News stories should be from the last 24 hours only
- Headlines should be from the last 24 hours unless the user requests a wider window
- Account-specific news must actually mention the Salesforce account by name (use entity filtering)
- Include the cluster size for breaking stories to show how widely they're being covered
- For account news, note the sentiment so sales reps know if it's good or bad news before reaching out
