Slack Deal Room Monitor

Track which deal rooms are active, which have gone silent, and where unanswered questions are piling up. Keep your pipeline conversations healthy.

The Challenge

Deal rooms go silent when reps get busy, and leadership has no way to know which deals have stalled conversations. Questions from prospects sit unanswered, internal alignment breaks down, and by the time someone notices, the deal is at risk. Manually checking every deal channel every day does not scale past a handful of open deals.

Find Unanswered Questions

Input

The user will provide:

  1. Deal room channels to monitor (e.g., #deal-acme, #deal-globex) or a naming pattern (e.g., all channels starting with "deal-")
  2. Optional: time range to analyze (default: past 7 days)
  3. Optional: a channel to post the health report to (e.g., #sales-leadership, #pipeline-review)
  4. Optional: specific concerns to check for (e.g., unanswered questions, stale deals, competitor mentions)

Example: "Check all deal room channels for activity this week and post a health report to #sales-leadership."

Context

Monitoring Strategy

  1. Use @Slack/Search MessagesName it "Slack/Search Messages" and call it with @Slack/Search Messages to search each deal room channel for recent messages
  2. Analyze message volume, recency, and participants for each deal room
  3. Identify unanswered questions — messages with question marks and no follow-up
  4. Flag channels with no activity in the past 3+ days as potentially stale
  5. Look for risk signals: mentions of competitors, delays, budget concerns, or "push back"

What to Analyze

  • Activity level: Messages per day and trend (increasing, stable, declining)
  • Participant engagement: Who is active and who has gone quiet
  • Unanswered questions: Customer or internal questions without responses
  • Staleness: How long since the last message in each deal room
  • Risk signals: Mentions of competitors, timeline delays, budget issues, or objections
  • Momentum indicators: Next steps discussed, meetings scheduled, documents shared
  • Internal alignment: Are sales, solutions, and leadership all engaged, or is it just one rep?

What Makes a Good Health Report

  • Rank deal rooms from most active to most stale
  • Lead with deals that need attention (stale or risky)
  • Include specific unanswered questions so leadership can follow up
  • Show who was last active in each room
  • Keep it actionable: what should the team do about each deal?
