Chatting with Coco
Coco is the chat surface of Cotera. It's where you build things (agents, documents, workflows are all created as artifacts in conversation), and where you run them. This page covers the mechanics.
Mentions: bringing things into the conversation
Type @ to bring any resource into the chat:
- @agent — hand the conversation (or a task) to a specific agent
- @document — give Coco a document as context; it reads it before answering
- @workflow — reference or edit a workflow in place
Artifacts: what chats produce
When Coco builds something — an agent, a document, a workflow — it appears as an artifact beside the conversation. Artifacts are drafts until you save them; saved artifacts live in your Library and can be organized into folders (private to you, or shared with your org).
Tools in chat
Coco can use any connected tool directly in conversation — no agent required. Ask it to look something up, scrape a page, or append to a sheet, and you'll see each tool call in the transcript as it runs. By default Coco asks before executing tools; turn on auto-approve for a conversation when you trust the loop.
Sharing
Any chat or resource can be shared with a link — useful for showing a teammate a result or handing off a conversation.
The rest, briefly
- Voice — dictate instead of typing; Coco transcribes and responds.
- Files — attach files to a message; Coco reads them as context.
- Plan mode — for bigger tasks, have Coco propose a plan you approve before it starts executing.
- Long conversations — Coco can compact a long chat to keep it fast without losing the thread.
- Models — switch the model per conversation from the composer.
